We all have a story we tell ourselves. Your life story is the narrative you tell yourself and others about what happened in your life, what that means, and who you are as a result. Is your story one of bravery and perseverance, leading you to your current state of success and fulfillment? Is your story one of being the victim of an unfortunate life in which you had bad luck, got the short end of the stick, or were mistreated by others? Or, is your story one of boredom and lack of fulfillment, letting fear of other people’s judgments keep you from living the life of your dreams?
Our life stories are like movies, you are typically the main character and friends or loved ones are the supporting cast. Often times the story we have repeatedly visited in our minds is not an accurate reflection of the actual events that took place. Our anxieties, insecurities and self-doubts cloud our memory and create a story that feels heavy to carry around. We blame our current situation on our past by revisiting our ‘story’ over and over again.
The good news is that as the author of your life story you can change the storyline at any time. Your self growth will shine through in your life story as you begin to feel confident, accomplished, and grateful for where you are today.
Your journey is yours to define over the course of your lifetime. What will your ending look like?
